Northvolt, once seen as Europe’s strongest contender against Asian EV battery giants, has filed for bankruptcy in Sweden after failing to secure crucial funding.

Despite receiving $10 billion in investments from major backers like Volkswagen and Goldman Sachs, the company was unable to scale production and now faces over $8 billion in debt.

A court-appointed trustee will oversee the liquidation of assets and debt settlements.
